Africa Safari in Botswana and Cape Town September 2018 (in Botswana Mashatu Game Reserve, then on to Cape Town). September 25th – October 3rd, 2018.
Embark on a safari for the spirit as you experience intimate wildlife encounters in pristine natural settings.
Reconnect with all your senses among the vast open spaces of Africa: In 2011 we went on a very successful Safari to Kenya. In 2014 we had another incredible Safari experience in South Africa. In 2017 we had another exciting trip to Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls, and Cape Town. In September 2018 I invite you to join me on another wonderful African Safari experience in Botswana then on to Cape Town.
This Safari will be a most authentic experience.
Our Safari: In the remote eastern corner of Botswana, at the confluence of the Limpopo and Shashe rivers, lies an area known historically as the Tuli enclave – a diverse wilderness of savannah, riverine forests, marshland, open plains and sandstone outcrops. It is here that the largest of the Rattray Reserves is situated – Mashatu Game Reserve. Mashatu is also the home of no less than seven of Africa’s giants: the African elephant, the lion, giraffe, the baobab tree, the eland, the ostrich, and the kori bustard.
We will then move on to Cape Town, staying for 3 nights in Mores Quarters to experience true Cape Town living in stylish and secure apartments amongst popular restaurants and great shopping nearby.
PLENTY to see and do in Cape Town.
Detailed Itinerary
25 Sep 2018
Upon arrival at Polokwane Airport (PTG), a representative will meet us for private road transfer to Mashatu Tented Camp, where we will spend the next 5 nights.
The transfer will take approximately 2 hours, and will involve crossing the border into Botswana. The most commonly used entry point for visitors to Mashatu Game Reserve is through the Pont Drift Border Post between South Africa and Botswana.
Once we have worked our way through the border crossing, we will be met on the Botswana-side by our guide for game drive transfer to Mashatu Tented Camp.
Mashatu Tented Camp
Luxury Tent
In the remote eastern corner of Botswana, at the confluence of the Limpopo and Shashe rivers, lies an area known historically as the Tuli enclave – a diverse wilderness of savannah, riverine forests, marshland, open plains and sandstone outcrops. It is here that the largest of the Rattray Reserves is situated – Mashatu Game Reserve. Mashatu is also the home of no less than seven of Africa’s giants: the African elephant, the lion, giraffe, the baobab tree, the eland, the ostrich, and the kori bustard.
Nestled in the remote northern area of the reserve lies our camp. With never more than sixteen guests, this idyllic getaway provides accommodation in the form of eight twin tents.
Although rustic in character every facility is provided. The tents are insect-proofed, have comfortable beds and each has an en-suite shower and W.C. facility. There is an open sided thatch deck where meals are served and a traditional boma for intimate campfire dinners. This camp also contains a very welcome plunge pool. Your total comfort is the priority of your hosts. While on game drives, you will be taken care of by your ranger and on your return, the camp staff will gladly attend to your every need.
